In 2021, the book "The Greek Revolution of 1821 and Its Global Significance" by British philhellene Professor Roderick Beaton was published. In this work, within 91 pages, the author outlines the course of the Greek Revolution and examines its global impact, a fact that makes it relevant even to this day. The book begins by documenting significant global political and military developments in the late 18th and early 19th centuries to establish the historical context of the era. Then, the appeals to Europe on behalf of the Greeks are described, and the stance of the Great Powers toward the Greeks and their Struggle is examined. The professor traces the nine years of the revolution and concludes the historical overview in 1832 with the appointment of Otto as King of Greece. The work was published by “Aiora” (translated by Despoina Kanellopoulou) and is an expanded version of Professor R. Beaton’s lecture, which was delivered on November 12, 2020, as part of a series of online lectures organized by the British School of Athens.
